Though it may not be the most popular, corn is a delicious addition to many meals. Turns out, it also has some health benefits! Firstly, it is not incredibly high in calories, making it a great snack. It also has a considerable amount of fiber, which is great for the digestive system and keeping you full. Despite of its sweet flavour, corn itself actually does not have a high amount of sugar. In fact, most fruit have more natural sugar than corn does. This, however, does not apply to corn products, such as high fructose corn syrup. Corn is also rich in a few types of vitamins, such as B1, B9, and C. Additionally, it is rich in lutein and zeaxanthin, which can contribute to good eye health. Now that you know all of its health benefits, maybe you can find a way to incorporate more corn into your diet!
