Pasta is one of the most universally loved foods. It’s versatile, fillings, and delicious! Contrary to popular belief, it actually is not as bad for you as you might think. Another benefit is the low amount of fat and the fact that there is no cholesterol in pasta. Other types of pasta, like those made from whole-grains, also contain protein and fiber, which are great for your body. The other great thing about pasta is that you can prepare in a multitude of different ways, which means multitude of different health benefits. Depending on what sauce you decide to add, it can provide a great amount of health benefits. The downside to pasta is the amount of carbs and calories in one serving. One cup of pasta has about 1/6 of the recommended amount of carbs and about 10% of the recommended calories. However, studies have found that eating pasta had no adverse effects on people participating in a low glycemic index diet, and that weight-loss was not affected. Overall, when eaten in moderation and combined with a healthy sauce, pasta can be a great addition to your diet!
