Many of us have heard of beyond meat or plant-based meat, but it may still be unclear what it actually is. Plant-based meat is exactly what it sounds like, it is “meat” made of plant-based products, meaning it does not use any animal products in it. These types of “meats” are usually made to resemble actual meat and can be found in multiple forms, such as burgers, sausages, and ground. It is usually made of different types of beans, oils, starches, and juices, but doesn’t contain many health benefits. The ingredients used to mimic real meat are often quite unhealthy, meaning that it is not necessarily a better alternative, health-wise. However, fake meats are currently more environmentally-friendly than regular meat.
