Before we discover what net-zero carbon footprint is, we need to understand what carbon footprint is to begin with. Carbon footprint is the amount of greenhouse emissions, such as carbon dioxide and methane, that are released as a result of our actions, actions which can range from, but are not limited to, the usage of electricity to deforestation. These emissions affect the environment and contribute to dilemmas such as global warming, cause intense weather conditions or events, and so forth. Net-zero carbon footprint is essentially an attempt at minimizing the amount of greenhouse emissions. Minimizing the amount of emissions can be achieved by balancing out the greenhouse emissions and removing them, a process known to be called carbon removal. This process is completed using technology that direct air capture, or DACS. Although we all can find this type of technology in our local stores and use the technology ourselves, there are many things that can be done to lower our overall carbon footprint. As previously mentioned, the usage of electricity contributes to the emissions, so by limiting your usage of electricity, for instance by turning off any extra lights, turning heating off for the night, and so on, you’re contributing to a lower carbon footprint, consequently helping with greater issues as previously mentioned.
