What is Animal Feed?

Have you ever wondered what it is that animals eat? Well, today’s your lucky day. The main source of nutrition for livestock is animal feed, which is a blend of multiple ingredients that nourish the animals. These ingredients are usually different types of crops that are either specifically grown for the animal feed, or are byproducts of other crops. Animals need similar nutrients to humans, meaning a lot of science has gone into building nutritious animal feed. Animal feed contains proteins, carbohydrates, minerals and vitamins, fats, and hydration. Animal feed can either be fresh (grass, other grown crops) or dried. The type of feed given to an animal is determined based on the nutrients it needs to be as healthy as possible, meaning it varies from animal to animal, and sometimes, from farm to farm.
